Brian Shul discusses the "Speed of Life"

At the Phoenix Society’s World Burn Congress 2011, featured speaker Brian Shul addressed several hundred burn survivors and families in the Duke Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom. After one year in a burn ward, Shul talked about his experiences and the lessons learned that enabled him to return to flying military aircraft for the air force.

Only those that have endured the process can fully understand the trauma, pain and difficulty in healing from burn injuries.

According to Brian, “What (my peers) didn’t understand was that my greatest accomplishment did not come from my career. It was the day I walked out of the burn unit.”
